Children’s classes are for 6-8 years old.

Basic Welding (Adult)
Instructed by Scott Kitchens
Students will learn: Gas welding and cutting of steel and brass, stick welding, and MIG welding. Students will need to bring a welding hood, safety glasses and wear work boots, long sleeve cotton shirt, and blue jeans without holes.

Basic Welding and Blacksmithing (Adult)
Instructed by Phil Simpson
This class will involve utilizing basic welding techniques such as oxy/acetylene, standard arc and some MIG and TIG welding. Class will also consist of seven basic techniques in metal-smithing. Students will need to bring safety goggles, #5 cutting goggles, medium to thick leather gloves, wear boots, 100% cotton long-sleeve shirt, and blue jeans without holes.
Prerequisite: This class is only open to students who have taken a previous class at Inspire Fine Art Center.

Batik (Adult)

Create hand-dyed fabrics using wax and dyes. Colors are applied one by one starting with the lightest andgoing to the darkest. Bring your own design or create one! For all levels.

Calligraphy (Adult)

Calligraphy techniques are a great opportunity to incorporate both writing and artwork. Create beautiful gifts such as scrap booking, wedding invitations and other fabulous projects!

Cartooning/Caricatures (Youth)

Focus on morphing faces from real life to cartoons. Bring a couple of #2 pencils. Previous drawing experience helpful but not required.

Ceramics (Youth)

Students will learn a variety of hand building skills and let their imaginations run wild! Projects are both functional and sculptural with an element of fun!! Tuition covers kiln firings and materials.

Ceramics I (Adult)

This class will introduce you to wheel throwing for the beginning-level ceramcist and an introduction to new forms and shapes. This class involves slab building, and coil . We will increase your knowledge and skills in ceramics preparing you for advanced classes. Introduction to RAKU.
Tuition covers kiln firings and materials. Anticipate additional fees for tools and clay.

This class builds upon the skills already achieved from Ceramic I, and is designed to increase you abilities to throw larger forms and enhance your glazing techniques. RAKU is also included.

A mixed media experience! Learn how to work with colored inks, pastels, watercolor, prismacolors and more. Shading, blending, blocking – use the range of colors to create fabulous pictures.

Drawing With COLOR! (Adult)

This is a second level drawing class. We will be using soft colored pencils. Techniques will be explored and students will learn how to layer their project. Bring a set of Prismacolors or something similar.

Exploring Ceramic Surfaces (Adult)
Instructed by Audrey Leigh-Nightingale
Start with a form you will create in class, build up the clay surface with stamps and sprigged additions and mould small objects to adhere to the surface. Learn how to make and use colored clay and experiment with self-glazing clay called Egyptian paste. Metallic and pearlescent lustres will also be used in finishing.

Handbuilding (Adult)

A creative experience for all levels! Explore a variety of hand building techniques and make an array of ceramic forms, both functional and sculptural. Build a strong foundation of traditional forming skills: pinch, coil, slab and extrusion to make vases, teapots, plates, jars and more! Explore slip & texture techniques: trailing, inlay scraffitto, mishima, sprigging, stamping and colored clays!
Tuition covers glaze materials and kiln firing; anticipate additional fees for clay and some tools.

Introduction to the Potter's Wheel (Adult)

This is a great way to begin learning the ancient art of using the potter’s wheel. Develop basic throwing skills while making vases, mugs, jars and bowls from stoneware clay. Glaze and decorate! Tuition covers glaze materials and kiln firing.

Metal Sculpture (Adult)

Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design (Adult)

This course will explore the properties of non-ferrous metals (silver and copper) and how to manipulate and form these metals into functional/wearable art. We will explore soldering, sawing, hammering and stone setting techniques. No experience necessary.

This Sampler Art class will provide the student the opportunity to experience drawing, painting with acrylic, watercolors, ceramics, and some puppets. Each project will be unique and guaranteed to be a ton of fun! Not only will techniques be learned, but each student will keep a journal (with guidance from instructor) of each project to have a handy book for future reference.

Stone Sculpture (Adult)
Instructed by Charles Ingram
Beginning through advanced stone sculpting.
As a beginner you will be introduced to the world of stone sculpture with limestone. You will be taught to conceptualize your piece & create a clay maquette.. You will be taught basic hand tool principles and applications. We will also cover basic anatomy and proportioning . For advanced students, air will be available for pneumatic tools.

Tile Making & Mosaics (Adult)

Come wallow in the mud. This class will introduce basic sizing, cutting, and decorating techniques that will allow each student to personalize their own hand-built ceramic tile. We will cover processes as relief, texture, and glazing design. This class will also explore the realm of tile mosaics. Each student will have the opportunity to design and create custom mosaics.

Wheel Throwing (Youth)

Introduction to throwing pottery on the wheel. The student will learn the fundamentals of throwing techniques, including centering & forming a cylinder. Pottery will be created and glazed.
